14: Me and Rowan

For this shoot I decided to reshoot the images of Rowan and I where he gave me a piggy back as there was something about the light in the previous shoot that bothered me. I decided to use location lighting for these images, and shoot in my old bedroom in my mums house, the same location as the emulation and rejection triptychs. I did not plan this shoot with Rowan but instead set up my room when I heard he was coming round to see mum, and then took him away quickly for some images. I do actually prefer these to the first shoot despite them being over exposed. I feel that they may also be over exposed due to the scan as the negatives looked like they held a lot of information.

With the previous shoot Rowans hands were handing very uncomfortably in the air, not holding my legs but awkwardly holding nothing and he is doing the same in this series. In this series I also noticed my own fingers, as I barely touch Rowan and keep my hands right across to the other side, where they meet my other arm. Other than the images where I am clearly touching Rowans face, my hands don’t touch his shoulders, only the tips of my fingers. While these shoots are the closest we have been throughout this process, it is clear that there are still awkward elements to both of us, we are not affectionate and I feel that this is very apparent through this work.
