FINAL MOVING IMAGE PIECE FOR EXHIBITION
I have been unsure of my moving image piece and been thinking of what it is about it that bothers me, I feel that it is not quite technically right, as it is not long enough, and because it was so windy the tripod moves, so when each piece is played on a loop you can see where the frame has moved too clearly. Therefore, I have decided to reshoot the moving three moving image pieces I have (two of me and one of my brothers). I do like the sky in the video that I have already done, however would like to try a different type of lighting, without location lighting and only using day light, so that the lighting is more similar to my portraits. I also think that because the weather is much warmer my flexibility with clothing and the length of the videos will be much better. I am thinking about having all three of us wearing the same white t-shirt, and darker trousers (or maybe individual trousers to show a bit of personality) because I want the end result to look clear and polished, and almost feel clinical. I feel that the over staged manor of the moving image is in keeping with the ‘fake’ and forced themes I am trying to show. I feel that the coordinated white t-shirts will make the whole thing look a lot like a performance, which represents my idea of the forced interaction between myself and my brothers. Below are two photographs I have made, one with a white t-shirt and one made on the beach, these are my tonal inspirations for the upcoming moving image. I would like to have the natural light tones from both, the blue sky from the beach photograph, the white clothing from the inside portrait, and the more muted skin tones from the inside portrait.
While reshooting the piece I have done (with the three separated fames) I would also like to try the idea I thought of very early on by filming an embrace between my brothers. The way in which they hold their hands has become something very interesting throughout this work, therefore I would like to incorprate this idea more and isolate to highlight its importance. I would like to film both boys hugging but pulling at each others clothing, almost as an aggressive hug inspired by the way in which Rowan has held Jacks face in this portrait:

The scrunching of Jacks skin is almost uncomfortable, it shows a lot of control and dominance, Jacks stare almost looks scared like a ‘rabbit in headlights’ which emphasises the force being used to hold his face.
